I went to the Self web-site and it looks like the only thing he does like is the NE5532/NE5534. Be nice if there was a lower current version of these.

But are we doing audiophile stuff or synth stuff with these op-amps?

When doing synth stuff I don't worry much about distortion (unless that's what I'm doing). I'm more interested in op-amp stabilty and noise. To me the main thing is stable oscillators and low noise at the output of the patch. I think to some extent distortion is what gives a number instruments some of their uniqueness.

Just me and my 2 cents.
