Hmmm... I'm actually not too surprised. Buchla was involved in the 
ill-fated OB-Mx project, and it uses SSM2024s (predecessor to the 2164, 
although definitely not a drop-in replacement) all over the place, notably 
the state variable filter.

The OB-Mx does use vactrols in the panning section, though...
