Joergen Bergfors (Bergfotron) uses brass front panels and solders
the standoffs to them. Maybe you saw that ???
If you wanted to use glue... I would use a standard two-part
epoxy. Clean the surfaces very well, and test one first. I'd worry that
the rotational stress of tightening the screws might eventually break
the
bond, but you'd have to try it.
I would avoid trying cyanoacrylic (crazy) glue for this
