[sdiy] air particle filter material for a cooling fan?

I use cut-up smoke filters from desktop solder fume extractors on my PC 
which I retrofitted some extra air inlet ports.

The filters probably don't stop the really fine stuff, but judging by 
the gunk they do collect they do a good enough job for me.

They can be had from most electronic components places. The ones I use 
were made by Cliff Components, who also make the EMS knobs...
