That circuit may not work for a floating resistor. Replacing a
floating resistor with a circuit that won't be floating (due to the
control voltage) could be tricky.

When I took a quick look at the filter schematic I missed the pot connected
to the 2N2222. Since the only pot I saw was the frequency pot I suggested the
current sink. Of course if I read the original email properly I would have seen
*voltage controller resonance* :-)
