[sdiy] Control volt into computer over soundcard?

I am wanting to get a control volt signal into my pc at high resolution
in order to use a control volt wind controller ( akai 3020 ) at much
better than midi resolution. I'm planning on trying a few methods. Can
anyone tell me what I would have to do to get a cv signal into the
machine through a standard sound card? Can they take a dc voltage? I was
thinking if not, I would make an audio signal that encodes the dc
voltage I am after as amplitude of another signal. I know how to take
apart the signal on the computer end using csound, but I don't know how
I would in analogue electronics take the cv signal and then as easily
and reliably as possible make an audio signal out of it whereby either
amplitude or pulse width or something represent the cv control signal.
Any tips or resources?

Thanks
Iain
