Cheap: Alpha pots from Rapid. Nice enough feel, 6mm knurled shaft so you 
can use cheap push on knobs. Quality is fine but not mil spec by any 
means. Good enough for most DIY projects I would suspect.

Better: Spectrol 248. Farnell, RS, Rapid and others. Nice feel, 6.25mm 
round shaft so you have to use grub screw or collett knobs. Quality is 
excellent, but occasionally one does get a duff one, perhaps due to the 
move from the UK factory to one elsewhere.

Alpha are around 30p each, while Spectrol 248 are around 2 quid.
