Hi Spencer.
Noise gate or exapnder, then compressor in series. If you're using EQ, put
it last in the chain, as that way the compressor won't affect the tonal
changes made with the EQ.
EQ before compression can be interesting in an FX sort of way, but can make
things more unpredictable.
