Another really powerful way to think about it is in terms of what's 
happening with the currents. The virtual ground in the inverting 
configuration is essentially letting you use a resistor as a voltage to 
current converter, and then the op amp with the feedback resistor is 
essentially turning that current back into a voltage. Thinking in terms of 
currents can give a lot of insight.
