I think there is fair variability in what people choose to use, enough
so that there really isn't a single common list.  Resistors and caps 
are so ubiquitous that there could be such a list, however, there tend
to be favorites selected accross a wide span when it comes to
semiconductors and IC parts.  Just the selection of OpAmps will stir
healthy discussion.  Much depends on what you want to do, things like
your tolerance of noise and imperfection or demands for accuracy as
well as the kinds of circuits the interest you.  People here build all
manner of noise makers, from circuit bending of toys to effect boxes to
monosynths to full blown modulars.

Soooo, tell us what sorts of things you'd like to put together and
maybe then we can give you an idea of what parts would be appropriate
to build those things.
