Hi Norman,

Welcome to SDIY, and congratulations on starting a synth project for
school. Here are a couple of links I think you should check out:

Aaron Lanterman's "Theory and Design of Music Synthesizers" Class.
http://users.ece.gatech.edu/~lanterma/ece4803/
Aaron has several of his lectures on-line, and I'm sure this will
provide you with a LOT of valuable information and theory about why
musical electronics work (or don't). This is GREAT stuff, and I
appluad Aaron for doing this.

Ray Wilson's "Music From Outer Space"
http://www.musicfromouterspace.com/
and especially Ray's collection of modular circuits
http://www.musicfromouterspace.com/analogsynth.php?page=ANALOG
Ray has a fantastic collection of synth circuits and goodies to buy. Good stuff.

Ken Stone's "Cat Girl Synth" pages:
http://www.cgs.synth.net/
Ken is one of the most creative and prolific synth DIY inventors out
there. His site is a great collection of neat circuits, theory, and he
even has PCBs available for most project. More good stuff.

Rene Schmitz's "Synths R Us" pages:
http://www.uni-bonn.de/~uzs159/index.html
Another wonderful site. Lots of great schematics and information. Rene
has several unusual circuits, and is an expert at torturing CMOS logic
chips to behave as analog blocks. Even more good stuff.

Scott Stite's "Birth of a Synth" pages:
http://www.uni-bonn.de/~uzs159/index.html
Scott is an incredibly creative guy and has created several noteworthy
projects. Most recently, he has been working with Thomas Henry on some
new VCO projects. You might want to check the XR VCO project for a
resonably inexpensive VCO.

Barry Klein has reissued his "Electronic Music Circuits" book. A great
collection of synth circuits.

There are many others, but I'm sure this will get you off to a rousing
start. Again, best of luck on your project.
