You only have to use the web interface for signup (and im not sure as there
isnt even a way around this too) but, certainly, once you're subbed, your
interaction with the group can be entirely mail based.

I'm a member of a number of lists, and they all just come into my mail box,
and are sorted accordingly by my mail rules (outlook)

Apart from the footers that yahoo adds, you'd never know one list server
from the other, and the use is the same except that the default is to reply
to the list (although the senders email is in the body of the mail, if you
want to reply to sender only)
