Hmm. It's...showing aftertouch messages? I'm trying to recall..is there
just a midi led indicator on the ex? I just have polys here..one for
sale btw as soon as I figure why the last potential buy claimed of it
skipping to random patches! I can't get it to do it...
ANyway if the thing is showing AT messags then hey...it's receiving midi
obviously. No magic smoke on that end. Perhaps the channel just got
reset errantly or something? That's pretty strange otherwise. I don't
know how the midi indicator light responds on that but if it's
responding at all then nothing could be fried I beleive. All that
circuitry is digital with opto i/f and the only way you can smoke
something is to get a hot leg from something on the ground maybe and
feed through a 47ohm resistor to an ouput ground or something. It's on a
wal wart so it's isolated. It would have to feed through to something
else that is grounded like a mixer. Isolate ALL connected things and
check for floating AC voltages before proceeding. I recommend buying a
little AC indicator light that works when you just touch it. It has a
high impedence resistance and uses you as an antenna basically and you
dissipate just enough power to light a tiny neon lamp :-). Great tool.
As long as your stupid roommate doesn't borrow it and get it wet inside
somehow....ouch. -Bob
