This is my email address.  I'll respond to the list as well because

There is only one Rev 4 software at present.  People have talked a lot
about redoing the OS, but I think future plans will involve replacing
the CPU board as well.

With a hardware modification, yes.

There should be no problem with patch dumps.  Rev4 modified global
MIDI capabilities but did not affect the voice architecture at all.  I
would take the precaution of saving the patch data to a WAV file or
similar, normalize the audio output, then load into the other unit.

Not that I know of, sadly.  I've asked around, too.  I also don't have
the original test tape, but I can re-create it with a bit of work as
required.
