[sdiy] Stacking toroidal transformers

Hi all,

What are the provisos for stacking mains power toroidal transformers? Is
the field constricted enough so you can stack one transformer on top of
the other without too much interaction? Does sharing the same single
mounting bolt cause a problem, apart from the one bolt having to cope
with the weight of two cores over a larger distance?

I need to get a single transformer that does 15-0-15 and 0-5V supplies
to replace one in a JP-8. Space is at a premium and nobody makes triple
output transformers these days it seems at the currents I need. The UK
bespoke transformer business seems to have collapsed.

Now I have worked out a way of getting two toroids in there using a
metal mounting plate holding one above the other, but it would be a lot
easier if I could stack one on top of the other with one big bolt.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Tony
