I would not think you can get a 'good, slow' isolation
transformer. Even a low frequenct one (60Hz) will have
a pretty decent high frequency response.
"Modified Sine" is an issue... it is exactly what you
describe, a very distorted sine wave. Good for power
tools and bad for audio
The ferroresonant transformer might help. You might
try a brute force filter but it is going to run very
hot (so will the ferroresonant...) It will be large
and heavy.
