Well, anyone wanting a 50+ vactrol..... you could get the unit out of an
Optigan.
There's a bar shaped LDR goes under the optical slit that scans the optical
tracks.
So all you need is a big LED to drive the whole unit at once.
Incidentally I've got a copy of the FIRST BBD (back in a Philbrick &
Associates
collection of analog godness) and, it's not just tapped at each stage.. each
stage is
a discrete module.. it had 27 tubes.( twin triodes at that) for a ten stage
BBD.
