[sdiy] wire storage...

One of the things I have a hard time coming up with is wire (believe it or
not).  Today, however, my local surplus place had a ton of really great wire
in every color of the rainbow for next to nothing.  So, I made a lifetime
buy, at least at my present rate, and now I have tons of this stuff around.
I thought about buying all they had but trying to store those large 5 foot
diameter wooden wire spools, much less getting them home in my beetle, would
have been problematic and difficult to hide from the wife.  I don't have any
old spools laying around that I can reuse so does anyone have any clever
solutions how to keep all the wire neat and spooled? Thanks!
