Actually the circuit I am using calls for 3080's, but they're using 2N5087's
& 2N5088's as a buffer like on the CA3094. I like the particular 3080's I am
going to use. They came from an old Videocipher II - they have painted red
dots on them which I think maybe means they're matched or just selected. I
thought about the 2SC3622's since I pulled them from a high-end Sony
CD-player.
I like the idea of using what I have to hand. I'm always looking at all of
the parts I'm collected overe the years and think 'surely I can make
something cool with all of this.' And I do.
I was curious too see if there would be an advantage to using only one
transistor with a huge gain instead of two in a darlington. The 2SC3622L has
a gain from 1000 to 2000.
