I presume that the Pentium-M requires a fan. However, the Pentium-M
processors are known to be great for audio, and score at the top of the
ranks for MAX/MSP performance (as a benchmark). Meanwhile,  it seems that
the VIA processors do not perform that well for audio - Amdre's email
confirmed my suspicions.

I used to think about building a Mini-ITX box using the VIA chips for audio,
but the Mac Mini seems to provide far more power than the VIA boxes (both in
terms of CPU and operating system) at a lower price.
