The problem isn't the fan. The problem is that it's underpowered. It also 
doesn't have enough MIDI sockets. In an ideal world I'd want at least two 
and ideally four separate MIDI ins.

With a 4200+ dual-core Athlon X2 I have *nearly* enough power to run all 
the plug-ins I want. Something like the Receptor, which has a bit more than 
a quarter of the grunt, won't be enough for even a single complex Arturia 
Modular patch.

But a year or so from now when the dual-core version comes out, it will 
look a lot more interesting.

Personally I'm not bothered about fans, unless they're really really loud - 
which usually they aren't. If I want to record with a microphone there's 
always the spare bedroom. And if the noise gets really annoying there's 
always the option of moving the machine elsewhere and controlling it remotely.
