So did I.....
78XX is about the only component that I insist
having a 'famous' manufacturer.
Oh, and if you want a small Alps pot, it's worth
(imho) getting Alps.
As for the 555..... I read an interview with the designer, who
is a bit suoprised that after all this time nobody has tried to 
make a 'better' one. (OK, there are low power versions, 
CMOS versions, but no actual new design as such).
If only I had enough 'mad' money, I'd pay him to do
an oct/V version.....
