I have _one_ equipment that uses one of those devices,  a Kustom Charger amp 
that I've modified somewhat.  They use one of those right at the input jacks,  
and it's *horribly* noisy.  Tried replacing it with another of the same type,  
and get about the same result...

It's not encouraging.
