[sdiy] 1/8th patch cables ?

I am looking for a good source for 1/8th patch cables. I would prefer to
build my own in true DIY fashion. I understand that the Blacet cable kit is
a bit "stiff" and not easiest to patch with.  Can someone suggest something
better and cheaper ? (no offence to John)
