woah how did that one slip by me..???   :^P

I'd sat the LM324 'is' a single supply opamp (primarily and
preferredly)...

It does have input common mode range down to 'ground' (thank you PNP
input
stage)... and the output can come within 200mV to 700mV of ground...
pretty damn close in most cases.

It does NOT have symmetrical current source / sink capability... a
hallmark
(imho) of almost every true 'dual supply' opamp.  I'd say that
disqualifies
the LM324 as a preferred dual supply opamp.

The LM324 has 'issues' on dual supply. I have had them latch up. 
(strangely...
after several years of working correctly in a circuit. replacing them
with
NOS parts from the same batch... also locked up... truth stranger than
fiction ?)

even as much as I generally detest the LM324... its my first choice if I
need
to do a real single supply project.
