I find MC3403 to be a much better alternative to LM324. I've used them in
the place of TL0*4 in several circuits including expo VCOs with no loss in
performance. I agree that they are not essentially a single supply amp.
I've had LFO's made with these work only with dual supply, even though I
originally intended it for single.
