...and fun along with practicality; let's not forget that tubes are
fun!  Therefore, does not the element of fun combined with the
practicality of a real tube shift the scales in favor of using a tube?

Of course, one could go to the other somewhat practical, although quite
frighteningly artificial, extreme and just do it all in software.  ...or
use real FETs as opposed to GlassFETs.
