Speaking of which, I nailed myself with a soldering iron for the first
time a couple of weeks ago while putting together my MOTM 485...

I simply did something stupid - I did something that you really needed
three hands for, which I should know better than to try with only two
hands - I was holding the soldering iron in my right hand, and holding a
pot onto the board with my thumb and index finger on my left hand, and
holding the solder with the other fingers on my left hand.

I slipped, got a good inch of the iron across the top of my hand by my
thumb. Felt like an idiot, I have no idea what possessed me to try that.

Immediately went and ran cold water over it for a while. It didn't
actually look to bad at first - just some flakey white, and didn't hurt
much if at all - I mostly couldn't feel it. Maybe the heat obliterated all
the nerves or something.

Then the next day came, and then the next day. The nerves apparently
started growing back and then I saw how deep the heat had gotten in such a
short amount of time...
