I tend to divide soldering irons in two categories : cheap
all-in-one (a cord comes out of the handle that plugs into the
mains) and expensive handle-and-box (the cord that comes out of
the handle plugs into a box that contains a transformer and maybe
a temperature selector).

I started with the first sort. After the third one broke I had
enough and bought one of the second sort (a Weller TCPS). It's
still working fine. Le prix s'oublie, la qualité reste. :-)
