Not trying to advocate for MAC or start a flame war but if
you want a quiet computer get a MAC Pro.
It is dead quiet and no slouch with quad Xeons
with 12GHz combined processing.

Being a PC guy I don't even use the MAC side of things.
I just run it as a PC and the Pro is the best damn PC I have ever owned. And the quietest. I researched building the equivalent machine
myself and the components cost more than the MAC in total
and that wouldn't have included the added cost of low noise extras.
