[sdiy] RE: [sdiy] Test - PSA

For those of you who wonder whether SDIY went down or if it's just low traffic, there's a better
way to test the list than to send a test message. Those test messages and all of the replies that
can happen go to however many people are on the list (I'd guess several hundred).
When I need to know if the list is down or just low traffic, I just send a subscribe message to
the server - and no, that's not at the same email address as for posting. If it's just a slow day,
you'll get an "already subscribed" message back from majordomo. However, if you aren't receiving
emails, it may be because you became unsubscribed - and you'll still get a message from majordomo.
And of course, if the server is down, you'll get nothing. I get responses in just a couple of
minutes. This way, you find out what you want to know (is the list down or just slow?) and you
also don't send test messages to all the fine folks here at SDIY.
To send a 'subscribe' command to the list server, send a mail to 'majordomo at dropmix.xs4all.nl' with
a line in the body (subject is ignored):
subscribe synth-diy
You will not be multiply subscribed to the same address, majordomo won't do that.
