Sure, that's what it's all about.
Take this example: Amdek Delay Machine.
Not much more inside than a MN3005 + clock generator chip, a NE570
compander, and two 5th order lowpass filters, built around discrete emitter
followers.
Did I mention the low pass filters have a cutoff frequency around 3kHz?
But playing with this thing is pure bliss. You can catch some noise & tones
in an infinite loop, which will gradually distort, you can frequency
modulate
this with a manual knob, and it's the greatest noise machine on earth.
It sounds so _organic_.
I would never use it for delay time compensation in a PA, though. :)
