Once again (and for all the newbies):
lead-free parts + lead solder = OK
lead-free parts + lead-free solder = OK

lead parts + lead-free solder = NOT OK / BAD / EVIL
Explanation:
This is due to a weak metallic layer formed during the soldering
process which is caused by the lead on the surface. IE, there's not
enough lead to properly mix between the part and the solder. This
doesn't mean it won't work, but just that you run the risk of there
being an early failure due to the solder joint separating/cracking.
With a lead-free part, the tin on the surface easily mixes with the
lead solder (after all it's already 60 to 63% tin anyway), which is why
it is perfectly safe to use a lead-free part AT ALL TIMES.
