These high voltage "zeners" actually rely on the avalanche breakdown,
not the Zener effect. Which explains why they are both more noisy and
less temperature stable than real zener diodes.

The classical 1/f noise source is a MOSFET... one has to go to great
lengths to suppress this trait.
