Which is why I stopped putting caps at the output of the regulator. With all the bypass
caps in each of the modules, the transformer couldn't supply enough start up current. I
eliminated the cap right at the regulator to reduce startup loading (and added some
resistance in line in some non-critical modules.
(and BBD Harry's answer is a smarter power supply with a warm up circuit.)
My final responce was use a double switch box with a larger transformer. I went from about
300 mA to 1+ amp.
