Yes it is crazy... If I had enough storage room I would everything for free - 
so they save the waste bin costs that are quite high in Europe...
I could make my own Ebay shop...

As I don't enough space I just take the most interesting parts and put them 
into boxes and use them for me and friends...

Last week I got about 180 character LCDs 16x2 with LED backlight...
A few weeks ago I got about 100 DC/DC converter modules 18-75V in / 5V/1.5A, 
+/+15/250mA out from Datel - crazy expensive modules!!! (normally about 50
$/40Euros a piece)... and lots of chips, diodes, eproms,...
