Huh, that's the same structure as an SSM2040.

You could try using a 13700s and TL084s (like Ray does), or any other 
favorite OTA and buffer, or even the discrete OTA/buffers in the various 
SSM2040 chip clones, drop that all into the JX3P circuit and see what it 
sounds like.
