Talking about "not that pleasant", I had the cat on my arm when I played 
it, and she jumped up and ran away. I guess that means thumbs (rather or 
paw) down.

Well, I think the really important aspect here is that of way longer 
chorussing sweeps. A "perfect" beating would be just a perfect beat note 
at the difference frequency. Now if one (or both) oscillators "drift" 
that pattern isn't so regular anymore. Its like looking at the miniscule 
drifting effects with a magnifying glass. Not
weeeeooooeeeeeoooooeeeeoooo but
weeeoooeeeeeoooooeeeoooeeoo. Or something like that.
