[sdiy] Transistor pair swaparounds...

In my office hours today, I handed out baggies of synth parts to students
who came by. I felt like a dealer: "pppst, hey kid, want some 3080s?
First chip's free..."

A lot of the students are working with filters where they have a
voltage-to-current expo converter circuit. I don't understand all the
subtleties of such things myself...

...anyway, I had a limited number of SSM2210, SSM2220, MATs, LS, etc...
and no THAT chips... so mostly I handed out 2SC1583 and 2SC798s and some
CA3083s and CA3046s,

Can these things be swapped around without ill effects? Or will trying to
put a 2SC1583 into a circuit designed for a MAT or vice versa cause
horrible badness (other than a 2SC1583 having lower specs than a MAT...)

- Aaron

P.S. I had my first student to send me a draft schematic send me a
schematic (redundancy specialists, who specialize in redundancy) - he's
trying a HP/LP cascade, like the MS-20, but based ofn a vactrol approach
modeled off of the Buchla LPG, but with resonance... ;)
