Probably DX-Droid (or DX Android after the Lucasfilm people sent a
cease and desist warning)

I think it was the one Dr. T sold by Caged Artists that had a good
concept. It generated patches based on the bank you had loaded. I
think it had some masks you could also use to generate variations.

Actually how I learned to program the DX was to enter sounds from
magazines a parameter at a time to another patch with a similar
algorithm.

I also had a MIDI file player for the Atari that didn't care what
file you opened with it so I liked to try all sorts of data

About patch generation, the neatest thing I ever used was this third
party Casio CZ memory cartridge clone. I'm trying to remember what I
did exactly, probably just change the battery. Anyway I could get it
to make corrupt patches that gave non numerical values to parameters.
Most of the time the patches didn't make sounds, but sometimes the
patches were very abstract and they even had names laced with obscure
ascii symbols.
