[sdiy] using system resetting chips for synth use

I was looking through all of the different little system reset IC's that I have and what voltages they are and what they do when they function and thought there could be some synth uses for them. I guess the only problem would be that the voltage is fixed. But I could see how it might be handy to have a circuit that sends a signal when the voltage goes below a certain point and responds with the voltage going back up with selctable hysteresis. Anyone ever done anything like this? The big advantage would of course be its small size and simplicity.
The ones I'm specifically talking about are PST52XY made by Mitsumi. (For the longest time I'd tried to figure out what their logo was supposed to be and then I realised - duh - it's their name in Japanese: MI-TSU-MI.) I have others: MC33064, etc. but I haven't looked at their datasheets as much...
I've seen them used in BEAM robotronics.
