[sdiy] Yet another Modular UI suggestion

Yet another suggestion from the eternally unsatisfied.
One thing that always slows down my live performance with modulars is the
disconnection between patch points and patch point controls (pots). The
obvious solution is to build a pot that has a banana jack in the center
of the knob. The knobs would be a bit bigger.
One negative aspect of this design is the interface starts to look like
rows and rows of knobs, possibly obscuring each knobs function (layout,
coloring, titling, etc are really key in differentiating the controls).
On the other hand, color would be much more important and the Synthi AKS
interface with color'd knob faces and everything else is IMO one of the
most friendly synths made (along with gleeman and synthacon).
this suggestion is probably not practical for non-banana systems (but then
those are less-adapted for live performance anyway, because large
scale multing is impractical but necessary, 1/8th and 1/4th systems can't
be played by simply touching the jack to a patch point (human playing the
patching) and the in/out feeling isn't smooth but clicky/jumpy.
This is not a rant against 1/4th and 1/8th inch use, simply an explanation
of why i find banana more useful for live performance.
