Oh, it would never be 100x faster for me.

The way I usually work is to *not* make up a layout beforehand.  I just 
pick a board about the right size, spread the chips out, wire up the 
infrastructure (ps and bypass), then fit the other components in.  I 
consider *all* my circuits as experimental, so it is important to be able 
to modify them.

OK, but to me that would just be a pain and a waste of time. (Order the 
boards, wait for the boards, check the boards, find a buyer, do the 
shipping, hope payment shows up.)

I researched that a while back and came up with a similar number.  But I 
wasn't talking about money worth, just the results-to-time-ratio worth.
