I doubt that.. it would cost more to test and sort, than to manufacture.
More likely, they ARE the same diode! Quite a few transistors etc aare
identical despite different names, they are guaranteed to meet the specs of
whatever is printted on them, but often exceed them. It's a commercial
thing,
you have stock when someone wants a particular component, and the number
manufactured at one time is increased.
As for the rectifier diode ringing thing, I had terrible trouble with that
one, in a
ring modulator. And to make it worse, the ringing pulses radiated all over
the
place via the power transformer wires. The pulses were so thin I could only
just see them on my 100MHz tek scope. Sure could hear the effects, though!!
