One question I have is about the ambient light. Looking at the pictures it seems that they are using this in a dimmed room.

Wonder how well it works under normal lighting conditions?

Some of the guitar distortion circuits use LEDs as limiting diodes. In that application there has been mention of painting the LEDs with a opaque paint so light doesn't effect them. Think Harry has mentioned this before too.
