Yes, the connectors are excellent and roadworthy.  My problem is that if he 
ever needs a power supply cable, he'll probably just grab the closest mic cable 
that's handy, which may or may not be safe.

to his PA ??? He used standard 120V AC plugs.  He put sockets on the power
amp case, and just cut the ends off of extension cords for the speakers.

That's the other danger with XLR cables as power connectors.  You just know 
that someone's going to plug that supply into a mic input on a mixer or mic pre 
someday.  That would be an interesting signal.  For a few milliseconds, at 
least.
