[sdiy] 3V reference?

hi,

I am looking for a simple but stable 3VDC reference circuit.
I was looking at the AD780 but would rather build something from parts on 
hand.

Anybody have a schemo posted for ideas?
Also, the reference voltage will be required on 3 separate circuit boards, 
should I generate it locally for each or would it be ok to distribute it 
from one source?
