That's certainly the smartest approach and the one most likely to give the 
best trade off. While I sounded hardcore in my previous email I think a 
realistic project would combine a different approach for each module. Some 
modules clearly need more modelling effort than others. So I don't think 
there's a good need to accurately model a Moog multipatch panel. :-)

There's a tendency in audio engineering to get functional simplifications 
mixed up with the real world, losing a lot of complexity and sometimes 
musicality in the process.

Your (very interesting) summary of the fate of the digital version of the 
Moog filter looks like a good example of that.
