Hello Francois,
You might want to check out some of the literature of the late Elmer
Osterhoudt. His company, Modern Radio Labs, published a lot of d.i.y. radio
pamphlets back in the earlier part of the last century, most of it focusing
on various crystal detectors and related circuits.

I seem to also remember a web site where someone made a sound file of a salt
crystal or a junction imersed in salt water or some such thing - it produced
some very dramatic sounds. I cannot seem to find the link to it right now -
maybe someone on the list has seen this one?
