I think $400 is certainly fair for a precision 8-channel, 16-bit CV
interface. Problem is that I don't have $400. And if I did, I could not
throw it all into something like this. More than $400? I just can't do
it. I saw that auction and bit my knuckles, as I paused from dragging
them upon the ground >;]

It's ok. My laziness is that I am a bit interested in how these things
work, but that is secondary to just wanting gear to play with. I have
spent much of my life unemployed, so I rarely have money, so if I am
going to persue electronic music the way I want - then this seems like
how to go about it. I can't see myself ever saving up for a Serge or
Buchla system, so I resign myself to piecing together a studio. I
resent the slowness of waiting months to buy a few components which
cost only a few dollars. A bit lame, but my interest in electronics and
coding is not very enthusiastic these days. I'd love to have just
enough money to buy some gear I could use in maintaining my sanity,
peace of mind, having fun, etc. And then enjoy DIY, because I want to,
not because I need to. I guess I am too fixated on getting my modular
off of the ground, impatient with my progress and understanding.

Wow... I'm happy to see that it's GPL! Big thanks to Tony and Paul for
setting that up! I ultimately desire 16-bit res, but 12-bit certainly
covers things far better than 8-bits do! I hope I can piece one of
these together over the next few months.

I guess you are! I have been very moody myself this week, largely due
to being back to drinking coffee after several months. I must be
getting more sensitive to caffeine because it seems to make me a really
cranky bastard. Starting my morning with black tea was *way* better,
but I ran out of it. I'll finish the coffee and not buy more. Having no
career nor life is another factor. At least my modest audio progress
and my baby boy are sources of happiness.
